Why Is There a Daily Cap?

Shadow-n-Seek limits how many Paper Cup Phone (event currency) you can earn per day. On the first day, the cap starts at 4,000 points. This is intentional — it follows the same design Hotta Studio used in previous NTE events like the Underground Circuit racing event (which started at 5,000 per day).

The cap serves two purposes: it prevents players from completing the entire event shop in a single session, and it ensures the matchmaking pool stays active throughout the event’s 33-day duration (July 17 – August 19).

Key fact confirmed by community: The daily cap increases each day, similar to the racing event. Players who hit the cap on day one should simply return the next day for a higher limit.

How the Daily Cap Works

DayApproximate CapNotes
Day 1 (July 17)~4,000 Paper Cup PhoneStarting cap
Day 2+Increases dailyFollows the same pattern as Underground Circuit
Final daysFull shop clearableConsistent daily play is sufficient

The exact cap increase schedule has not been officially published. Based on community reports and the racing event precedent (5,000/day starting cap), the cap likely increases by 1,000–2,000 points per day.

How to Earn Paper Cup Phone Efficiently

Paper Cup Phone is earned by participating in Shadow-n-Seek matches. Both Hiders and Hunters earn currency regardless of which side they are assigned to. Winning a round awards a bonus.

Practical tips for maximizing daily earnings:

  • Play until you hit the daily cap, then stop — additional matches award no currency
  • You are randomly assigned to Hider or Hunter each match; you cannot choose your role
  • Winning as a Hider (surviving the full timer) or as a Hunter (eliminating all Hiders) awards bonus currency per match
  • Decoy usage as a Hider and coordinated scanning as a Hunter improve win rates
