Overview
The Fish Tank is a new housing feature introduced in NTE Version 1.2 under the Sea Angler hobby category. Instead of selling every fish you catch, you can now keep your favorite species in a home aquarium. The system requires active management — pH levels, feeding schedules, and species compatibility all affect your fish’s wellbeing.
Getting Started
Obtaining a Fish Tank
Fish tanks come in different sizes. Larger tanks can hold more fish and support a wider variety of species. The exact sizes and how to obtain them will be confirmed when Version 1.2 launches on July 8, 2026.
Freshwater vs. Saltwater
Fish tanks support both freshwater and saltwater environments. The type of water you set up determines which fish species can live in your tank. Most fish caught in rivers and lakes will be freshwater species; ocean fish will require a saltwater setup.
pH Management
pH management is the core maintenance mechanic of the fish tank system. Each fish species has a preferred pH range, and keeping the water within that range is essential for the fish to thrive.
Key rules:
- Adjust the pH based on the species you are keeping
- Be careful when mixing different species — their pH requirements may conflict
- If the pH drifts outside a fish’s tolerance range, the fish’s health will decline
Specific pH ranges for each species will be documented here after Version 1.2 launches.
Feeding
Fish require regular feeding to stay healthy. Two options are available:
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| Manual Feeding | Feed your fish directly; requires you to log in regularly |
| Auto Feeder | Set up automatic feeding so fish are fed even when you’re not playing |
The auto feeder also includes temperature control, which helps maintain stable water conditions without manual intervention.
Species Compatibility
When keeping multiple species in the same tank, check their compatibility before mixing:
- Ensure all species can survive in the same pH range
- Some species may be aggressive toward others (details to be confirmed)
- Freshwater and saltwater species cannot be mixed
Tips
Start with a single species. If you’re new to the fish tank system, begin with one species to learn the pH requirements before adding more. This avoids accidentally creating incompatible conditions.
Use the auto feeder immediately. Setting up the auto feeder and temperature control on day one prevents fish from dying during periods when you can’t log in.
Match your fish tank to your fishing habits. If you primarily fish in rivers, set up a freshwater tank. If you fish in the ocean, go saltwater. Mixing environments requires more careful management.
Full species list, pH tables, and tank size details will be added after Version 1.2 launches on July 8, 2026.
