NTE Free S-Class Selector Guide: How to Claim & Who to Choose

With the launch of Neverness to Everness Version 1.2, Hotta Studio is giving away a Free S-Class Standard Character Selection Box to all players. This allows you to choose one of the six standard S-Class characters to add to your roster for free.

However, the official wording on how to claim this box has caused some confusion in the community [1]. Here is exactly how to claim your free character and who you should pick.

How to Claim the S-Class Selector

According to the official Patch Notes [2], the requirement to receive the selector is simply to “Create a character before Version 1.2 ends.”

What does “Create a character” mean?

In NTE, “creating a character” simply means starting the game and choosing your protagonist’s gender (Esper Zero). You do not need to reach a specific Hunter Level or finish the entire story to be eligible.

If you are a new player joining for the Steam launch on July 8, you just need to:

1. Boot up the game and complete the initial character creation screen.
2. Play through the prologue until you unlock the in-game Mailbox (usually takes about 30–45 minutes).
3. Open your Mailbox and claim the “Summer Special Gift Pack” which contains the Selector Box.

Deadline: You must do this before Version 1.2 ends (estimated August 19, 2026).

Who Should You Choose?

The Selector Box allows you to pick one of the following standard S-Class characters: Sakiri, Baicang, Hathor, Fadia, Daffodill, or Jiuyuan.

Golden Rule: Do not open the Selector Box until you have spent all your initial free pulls (Hollow Dice) on the Standard Banner. If you pull a character randomly, you don’t want to accidentally pick a duplicate from the box!

Here is our ranking of the best choices for your account:

1. Daffodill (Top Priority)

Element: Lakshana | Role: Buffer / Support If you do not have Daffodill, she is the best choice for 90% of players. She is a universal attack buffer who fits into almost any team composition. In gacha games, premium supports outlast DPS characters in the meta, and Daffodill will significantly boost the damage of whoever your main carry is.

2. Jiuyuan (Best for Exploration & AoE)

Element: Anima | Role: Sub-DPS / Grouper Jiuyuan has the best enemy grouping abilities in the game. If you are struggling with content that spawns waves of small enemies (like certain Hunter’s Crucible floors), Jiuyuan makes clearing them effortless. She is also fantastic for overworld exploration.

3. Hathor (Best Hybrid)

Element: Lakshana | Role: Sub-DPS / Healer Hathor is a unique hybrid character who provides both off-field damage and healing. If you are not pulling for Iroi (the premium healer in 1.2), Hathor is an excellent pickup to keep your team alive while still contributing to DPS.

4. Sakiri / Baicang / Fadia (Situational)

These three characters are generally outclassed by limited banner characters or even certain A-Rank characters in the current meta.

• Sakiri is a niche Lakshana support.
• Baicang is an Anima DPS who requires high investment to shine.
• Fadia is a Psyche support who is only useful if you are building a dedicated Discord reaction team.

Only pick these if you absolutely love their design or need them to complete a very specific team composition.
