NTE Beginner's Guide: First Week Priorities and Mistakes to Avoid

Welcome to Hethereau! With the launch of Neverness to Everness on Steam and Epic Games Store, thousands of new anomaly hunters are entering the city for the first time.

NTE is a massive urban open-world RPG with deep combat mechanics, vehicle customization, and multiple progression systems. It can be overwhelming at first. This guide breaks down exactly what you should prioritize during your first week to progress efficiently and avoid common beginner traps.

1. Rush the Main Story (Episode 0)

Your absolute first priority should be completing the prologue and Episode 0: Unforeseen Yet Foretold.

NTE locks almost all of its core features behind story progression. Until you finish Episode 0 (which takes roughly 2–3 hours), you will not have access to:

• The Gacha system (Banners)
• The Mailbox (where pre-registration and compensation rewards are sent)
• Daily Commissions (your main source of account EXP)
• The Redeem Code system

Ignore side quests, random chests, and exploration until Episode 0 is complete. Once the Mailbox unlocks, immediately claim your free rewards and check our Active Redeem Codes page for extra Annulith.

2. Claim Your Free S-Class Character

In Version 1.2, NTE introduced a permanent Beginner’s S-Class Selector. After unlocking the gacha system, you will receive a special ticket that allows you to choose one standard S-Class character for free.

Who should you choose?

• Daffodil: The best choice for 90% of players. She is a universal support who provides massive attack buffs and fits into almost any team composition.
• Aurelia: A strong, easy-to-play main DPS if you do not plan on pulling for the limited banner characters right away.
• Edgar: A solid hybrid DPS/Healer, though he is eventually outclassed by limited healers like Iroi.

Tip: Do not use your selector ticket until you have spent your initial free pulls on the standard banner. If you accidentally pull Daffodil from the standard banner, you can use your ticket on Aurelia instead to avoid getting a duplicate early on.

3. Never Let Your Resin Cap

Resin (the energy system in NTE) caps at 240 and regenerates slowly over time. Every activity that drops character ascension materials, weapon upgrades, or Cartridges costs Resin.

In your first week, you want to spend your Resin exclusively on Character EXP materials and Weapon EXP materials. Do not farm Cartridges (the game’s artifact/relic system) until you reach Hunter Rank 40, as lower-level domains do not guarantee the highest rarity drops.

If you don’t know what to spend Resin on today, just farm money (Fons) or character EXP. You will need millions of Fons later in the game.

4. Build Only One Main Team

Resources are extremely scarce in the early game. A common beginner mistake is trying to level up 6 or 7 different characters at once.

Focus entirely on one team of four characters.

1. Main DPS: (e.g., Shinku, Chaos, or Aurelia) - Give them 70% of your resources. Max their level, weapon, and skills first.
2. Sub-DPS/Breaker: (e.g., Esper Zero) - Keep them 10 levels below your Main DPS.
3. Support/Buffer: (e.g., Daffodil) - Level them enough so they don’t die in one hit.
4. Healer: (e.g., Iroi or Haniel) - Level them just enough to keep the team alive.

The protagonist (Esper Zero) is actually an excellent Sub-DPS and battery. Do not ignore them; they remain viable even in endgame content.

5. Don’t Ignore the Vehicle System

Vehicles in NTE are not just for getting around the city—they are a core progression system. Upgrading your car improves its handling, speed, and durability, which is essential for the mandatory racing missions and vehicle combat sequences later in the story.

• Visit the Mod Shop in Hankaku Street early on.
• Use your spare Fons to upgrade your engine and tires.
• Participate in the weekly street races; they reward premium currency and vehicle parts.

6. Save Your Annulith for Limited Banners

Annulith is the premium currency used for pulling characters.

• Solid Dice: Used for the Limited Character Banner.
• Hollow Dice: Used for the Standard Banner.

Never spend Annulith to buy Hollow Dice. You will get plenty of standard banner pulls for free just by playing the game, leveling up characters, and completing the battle pass. Save 100% of your Annulith to buy Solid Dice for limited S-Class characters like Shinku or Iroi.
