Neverness to Everness launched on Steam on July 8, 2026, bringing the open-world urban RPG to millions of new players. Whether you are starting fresh on Steam or transferring progress from the official PC launcher, mobile, or PS5, this guide covers everything you need to know before your first session.
Does NTE Support Cross-Progression?
Yes. NTE features full cross-platform progression across all available platforms: Steam, Epic Games Store, the official PC launcher, PS5, iOS, and Android. Your characters, Annulith, inventory, and story progress are stored on Hotta Studio’s servers, not on your local device. This means you can switch platforms freely without losing anything.
The key requirement is that all platforms must be linked to a single Perfect World Games (PWG) account, which acts as the master account for all your data.
How to Link Your Steam Account (Existing Players)
If you already play NTE on mobile, PS5, or the official PC launcher, follow these steps to access your existing account on Steam:
- Download and launch NTE through your Steam client.
- On the login screen, do not create a new character or click “Start Game” as a guest.
- Select “Log In” and enter your existing PWG account credentials (email and password).
- Confirm the account binding prompt to link your Steam ID to your PWG account.
- Your existing characters and progress will load immediately.
Critical warning: If you accidentally start a new game before linking your existing account, your Steam ID will be bound to a blank profile. Your original data is not deleted, but you will need to unbind and re-link through the PWG account portal to recover access.
How to Fix: Progress Not Showing After Linking
If you log in on Steam and see an empty character screen instead of your existing characters, check these common causes:
| Issue | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong server selected | Steam may default to a different region | Check your server selection on the login screen and match it to your original server (e.g., NA, EU, Asia) |
| Wrong login method | You used Google/Apple login on mobile but typed the email manually on Steam | Use the same login method (Google, Apple, or PWG email) that you originally used |
| Blank account created | Steam auto-linked to a new empty profile | Log into the PWG account portal, unbind the Steam account, then re-link to your correct account |
New to NTE? Start Here
If you are a brand-new player joining through Steam, here is what to do on day one:
Claim Your Free Rewards First
Before anything else, redeem all active codes for free Annulith (the premium pull currency). Check our Active Redeem Codes page for the current list — there are currently 5 active codes worth over 300 Annulith combined.
Complete the Prologue to Unlock Everything
NTE requires you to complete the opening story chapter (Episode 0: Unforeseen Yet Foretold) before most features unlock, including the Mailbox, Gacha banners, and the redeem code system. This takes approximately 2–3 hours.
Understand the Gacha System
Unlike most gacha games, NTE does not have a 50/50 system. The limited banner guarantees the featured character at hard pity (around 80 pulls), with no chance of pulling the wrong character. This is significantly more F2P-friendly than comparable games.
Steam vs Official Launcher: Which Should You Use?
| Feature | Steam | Official PC Launcher |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Deck support | Native (Proton) | Manual setup required |
| Steam overlay & achievements | Yes | No |
| Download size | ~70 GB | ~70 GB |
| Update delivery | Via Steam CDN | Via PWG CDN |
| Background resource use | Higher (Steam client running) | Lower |
For most players, Steam is the more convenient choice. The official launcher is better if you want minimal background processes or have storage constraints.
What’s in Version 1.2 for New Players?
Joining during Version 1.2 “999 Nights” is ideal timing. The current patch includes:
- Shinku — new limited S-Class character (Phase 1 banner, July 8–28)
- Iroi — new limited S-Class character (Phase 2 banner, July 28 onward)
- 999 Nights mode — a permanent roguelite tabletop RPG mode set on the Warren Continent
- Free S-Class selector — complete early story missions to claim a free S-Class character from a selection pool
- Multiple events with free Annulith rewards
For a full breakdown of all free rewards available in 1.2, see our Version 1.2 Free Rewards Guide.
Common Steam Launch Issues
Game stuck on loading screen: Close Steam completely via Task Manager, restart as administrator, then relaunch.
“Server connection failed” error: Open Command Prompt as administrator and run ipconfig /flushdns, then restart your router.
Login timeout after character select: This is typically a regional server load issue during peak launch hours. Wait 10–15 minutes and try again.
Missing game files error: In your Steam library, right-click NTE → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
