Overview
Tear of the Sea is an Epic-rarity boss drop required for ascending Chiz and Jiuyuan past Level 40. It only drops from the Sea Prisoner Anomaly Hunt boss, making it one of the most time-gated materials in the game.
Boss: Sea Prisoner
- Location: Anomaly Hunt (unlocks at Hunter Level 25)
- Element: Hydro
- Weakness: Electro attacks
- Weekly Limit: 3 attempts per week (resets Monday)
- Drop Rate: 2-3 Tears per clear
Strategy
The Sea Prisoner has two phases:
- Phase 1: Summons water tentacles — destroy them to create a stagger window
- Phase 2 (50% HP): Creates a whirlpool arena — stay on the outer ring to avoid the center pull
Recommended Team: Bring Electro DPS (Daffodill or Adler) and a healer. The boss deals constant Hydro damage, so shields are less effective than healing.
Tips
- NEVER skip your 3 weekly attempts — boss drops are the biggest bottleneck in the game
- If you’re building both Chiz and Jiuyuan, expect 4-6 weeks of farming
- Material Selection Boxes have a small chance to contain boss drops — always check
- You need approximately 18 Tears total to fully ascend one character
