Edgar Overview

Edgar is an A-Rank Cosmos character who serves as the premier healer in Neverness to Everness at launch. His kit provides two distinct healing modes: a channeled Redirect Skill (Wild Current) that smart-heals the lowest-HP ally, and an Ultimate domain (Finnegan’s Wake) that provides sustained healing to the active on-field character. With a base HP pool approaching 50,000, Edgar is incidentally one of the tankiest characters in the game.

His defining passive, Gentle Edge, grants 120 Ultimate Energy (enough to fully charge any teammate’s Ultimate) whenever a Charge reaction triggers, with a 30-second lockout. This transforms Edgar from a pure healer into a rotation accelerator for Charge-based teams.

Best Arcs for Edgar

Call of the Twisted City M1 (Best in Slot)

StatValue
Main StatHP 37.5%
PassiveHealing Bonus +12% for 10s after casting Redirect Skill

Call of the Twisted City is Edgar’s undisputed best Arc. Since Wild Current is a long channel, the Healing Bonus buff stays active for nearly the entire healing window — functioning as a permanent 12% multiplier whenever Edgar is doing his job. The HP main stat directly scales his healing output.

Mind Royale M1 (F2P Alternative)

StatValue
Main StatBreak Intensity 60
PassiveGrants 10 Ultimate Energy when casting Redirect Skill (20s cooldown)

A budget option that trades raw healing throughput for faster Finnegan’s Wake cycling. Useful in teams where Edgar’s healing is already sufficient and you want more frequent Ultimate uptime for the domain heal or Speedy Hedgehog buffs.

Console Setup

  • 2-piece (Epic): HP +10%
  • 4-piece (Legendary): Increases wearer’s Healing Bonus by 20%

The cleanest fit for Edgar. Both HP and Healing Bonus directly multiply his output with zero rotation requirements or conditional triggers. Simply equip and heal.

Speedy Hedgehog (Buffer Alternative)

  • 2-piece (Epic): Charge Efficiency +12%
  • 4-piece (Legendary): All allies’ ATK +15% for 20s after the wearer casts Ultimate

Converts Edgar into a hybrid healer/buffer. When your team already has sufficient survivability and Edgar’s raw healing is overkill, this set adds meaningful offensive contribution. The ATK buff refreshes with each Ultimate cast.

Module Stat Priority

SlotMain StatSubstats
Type IHP%HP flat > DEF% > Cycle Intensity
Type IIHealing BonusHP% > HP flat > DEF%
Type IIIHP%Healing Bonus > HP flat > Cycle Intensity

Healing Bonus only rolls on main stats (Type II slot), making it the highest-priority main stat. HP% on substats fuels the rest of his scaling. Avoid investing in ATK or CRIT stats — Edgar’s damage contribution is negligible.

Team Compositions

Edgar’s premier composition leverages the Charge reaction cycle. Hathor (Lakshana) stacks Remora, Nanally and Jiuyuan trigger Blossom, and the three-element combination completes Charged. Every Charge trigger activates Gentle Edge, granting 120 Ultimate Energy to a teammate — effectively guaranteeing your main DPS always has their Ultimate ready.

Budget Variant: Edgar + Skia + Mint + Esper Zero

Blossom Support: Edgar + Nanally + Esper Zero + Jiuyuan

A Blossom-centric team where Edgar sustains the team while Esper Zero triggers reactions and Jiuyuan amplifies them. Less reliant on Charge reactions but still benefits from Gentle Edge when Charged occasionally triggers through natural element cycling.

Budget Variant: Edgar + Mint + Esper Zero + Jiuyuan

Awakening Priority

OrderAwakeningEffectReason
1stA1 — One of the Eibon DetectivesBoosts healing on low-HP alliesEmergency healing when it matters most
2ndA2 — Visitor from Planet CuriosityUltimate applies DEF buff to allies inside domainTransforms Edgar into a full defensive support

5thA6 — Anomaly-Loving ObserverKeys of Truth extend Ultimate durationLonger healing domain uptime
6thA4 — Skilled StrategistIncreases Skill damageNegligible value — Edgar is not built for damage

A1 and A2 are transformative. A1 provides clutch healing when allies are in danger, and A2 adds a team-wide DEF buff that makes Edgar a complete defensive pillar rather than just a healer.

How to Play Edgar

Healing Logic

Edgar’s two healing modes serve different purposes:

  • Wild Current (Hold Skill): Smart-heals the off-field ally with the lowest HP. Use when your supports or sub-DPS need topping off.
  • Finnegan’s Wake (Ultimate): Only heals the currently active character. Use when your main DPS needs sustain while staying on-field for their damage window.

Standard Rotation

  1. Swap to Edgar when healing is needed or Skill is off cooldown
  2. Hold Skill (Wild Current) — Channel for full duration to maximize healing
  3. Cast Ultimate (if main DPS needs sustained healing) — Place domain
  4. Swap back to DPS — They receive healing while inside the domain
  5. Repeat when Skill comes off cooldown

Practical Limitations

Edgar stands still while channeling Wild Current. This makes him vulnerable to enemy attacks in high-difficulty content. Pair him with crowd-control teammates (Skia, Sakiri) who can group or stun enemies during his channel windows. Against mobile bosses, lean on the Ultimate domain instead and keep your DPS positioned inside it.

When to Replace Edgar

Edgar’s value decreases as player skill increases. Once you can consistently perfect parry and dodge enemy attacks, his healing becomes less necessary. At that point, consider replacing him with:

  • Jiuyuan (A1) — Provides healing alongside DPS contribution
  • Fadia — Damage reduction shield that prevents damage rather than healing it
  • Another DPS — If your team can survive without a dedicated healer

For newer players and challenging content where mistakes happen, Edgar remains the safest investment for team stability.
