Hotori Overview

Hotori is an S-Rank Cosmos character who manipulates time through her Non-Closed Timepiece mechanic. Unlike other characters who rely on cooldowns and energy, Hotori accumulates time energy passively and spends it to record ally skills, then replays them during her devastating Time Stop Ultimate. Her burst timing is entirely player-controlled since she requires no Ultimate Energy — only a full Timepiece gauge.

Her defining strength is the ability to freeze the Beyond the Rails timer during her Ultimate, effectively giving your team extra seconds in timed content. Combined with her skill-recording mechanic that replays ally abilities, Hotori functions as both a Cosmos burst DPS and a powerful team amplifier.

Best Arcs for Hotori

Marching Beyond Time M1 (Best in Slot)

StatValue
Main StatCRIT Rate 24%
PassiveATK +16%
SpecialWastetime mechanic — Ult CRIT DMG +24% + 8% per Wastetime stack consumed. 3 stacks grants 12% DEF Ignore for 3s

Marching Beyond Time is Hotori’s signature Arc and her undisputed best-in-slot. The Wastetime mechanic activates naturally through her rotation: cast Skill (enters Wastelab), allies use Support/Redirect Skills to build stacks, then consume all stacks when casting Ultimate. At maximum 3 stacks, you gain 48% Ultimate CRIT DMG and 12% DEF Ignore — a massive burst window.

Fluff of Fearlessness M1 (Alternative)

StatValue
Main StatCRIT Rate 22%
PassiveATK +25% for 10s after casting Ultimate

A strong generalist option that provides a straightforward ATK buff after every Ultimate. Less conditional than Marching Beyond Time but lower ceiling. Suitable if you cannot manage the Wastetime stack timing consistently.

The Forgotten M5 (F2P Option)

StatValue
Main StatHP 25%
PassiveATK +20% when HP above 50%; DEF +20% when HP below 50%

A budget-friendly option available at M5 refinement. The ATK bonus is unconditional as long as Hotori stays healthy, which is typical since she spends minimal field time outside of her Ultimate window.

Console Setup

  • 2-piece (Epic): Cosmos DMG +10%
  • 4-piece (Legendary): Ignores 25% of enemies’ DEF for 20s after the wearer casts Ultimate

Lost Radiance synergizes perfectly with Hotori’s burst-oriented playstyle. The DEF Ignore activates every time she uses World’s Tide, stacking with her A6 Awakening for devastating penetration values.

Module Stat Priority

Console Bonus: Hotori gains 10% Cosmos DMG for every Type III Module equipped. Factor this into your elemental damage calculations.

Team Compositions

Max Nanally Blossom: Nanally + Jiuyuan + Hotori + Zero

Potentially the highest DPS team in V1.0. Two Anima characters (Nanally, Jiuyuan) and two Cosmos characters (Hotori, Zero) trigger Blossom nonstop. Zero’s Skill doubles as an Esper Meter filler, and Hotori records Nanally’s Skill for replay during Time Stop. The key interaction: Blossom’s Vita Bud attacks continue dealing damage during Hotori’s Time Stop thanks to her Ghost Orchid Crest enhancement.

Build Zero or Hotori with Cycle Intensity to maximize Blossom damage in this composition.

Max Zero Charged: Jiuyuan + Hotori + Zero + Hathor

Hotori replicates Zero’s Skill for double Esper Meter refills, then replays Hathor’s Skill (normal version) for two extra feathers, and Jiuyuan’s Skill for extra Bullets toward her Charged Attack. All repeated skills generate Esper Meter and Ultimate Energy for each character, ramping the team extremely fast. The Charged reaction triggers frequently, and Hotori’s timer freeze means this team clears faster than any non-Hotori variant.

Chiz Hyper Carry: Chiz + Hotori + Jiuyuan + Hathor

Record Hathor and Jiuyuan skills first before switching to Chiz (her Skill has three charges but Hotori only records one). In Beyond the Rails stages with Cosmos weakness, both Chiz and Hotori deal amplified damage. Especially effective against bosses in the second half of Beyond the Rails.

F2P Variant: Chiz + Hotori + Mint + Skia (replace Jiuyuan with Mint, Hathor with Skia)

Discord/Break Team: Hotori + Daffodill + Sakiri + Aurelia

A Break-focused team where Hotori follows up with staggering Ultimate damage to Broken enemies. Sakiri provides team-wide support and Incantation damage, while Aurelia and Daffodill work together to Break enemies quickly.

Awakening Priority

OrderAwakeningEffectReason
1stA6 — Time Takes AwayIgnores 30% of target’s DEF during Time StopMassive damage increase when stats are optimized for ATK
2ndA2 — Distant Memories20% more damage during Time StopSynergizes with A6 for multiplicative burst
3rdA1 — FlourishEach recorded Skill replayed adds 12% DMG during Time StopPotentially outperforms A2 depending on multiplier stacking
4thA5 — All-Seeing15% DMG multiplier for team vs bosses when Hotori is deployedPassive team buff with no conditions
5thA3 — Momentary GazePowerful burst but 60-second cooldown limits valueLower priority due to long cooldown
6thA4 — Scattered RelicsFaster Ultimate activation in multi-enemy scenariosSituational, less impactful in boss fights

Rotation Guide

Standard Rotation

  1. Switch to Hotori — Non-Closed Timepiece appears, accumulates energy passively
  2. Cast Skill (Present Replay) — Spends 60 energy, enters recording mode for 5 seconds
  3. Quickly switch through allies — Each ally uses their Redirect or Support Skill (records up to 3, one per character)
  4. Build Timepiece to full — Continue rotating through team, dealing damage
  5. Cast Ultimate (World’s Tide) — Time stops, all recorded skills replay, build combo stacks to 10 for Finisher

Key Timing Notes

  • Present Replay costs 60 energy; World’s Tide requires full charge (120 energy)
  • You cannot switch characters during Time Stop
  • Blossom’s Vita Bud attacks continue during Time Stop (Ghost Orchid Crest)
  • Record the most impactful skills — prioritize buffs and high-damage abilities
  • The Timepiece rewinds during both Skill and Ultimate use, so plan energy management carefully

Gameplay Tips

Hotori rewards players who understand their full team’s kit. Since she replays ally skills, knowing which skills provide the most value when doubled is critical. Zero’s Skill (instant Esper Meter fill) and Hathor’s Skill (feather generation) are among the highest-value recordings.

In Beyond the Rails, her timer freeze is invaluable. A well-timed Ultimate can effectively add 5-8 seconds to your clear timer, which often makes the difference between a successful clear and a failed attempt.

For newer players, focus on the basic loop: build energy, record skills, unleash Ultimate. As you improve, optimize which skills you record and when you trigger Time Stop relative to enemy vulnerability windows.
