The Discovery
A community-discovered technique shows that Hotori’s time stop ability extends exploration movement skills from other characters. When you activate Hotori’s time stop while another character’s exploration skill is active, the skill’s duration continues running during the time stop window — effectively giving you more distance or air time than normal.
This works with all confirmed special exploration skills:
| Character | Exploration Skill | Effect with Time Stop |
|---|---|---|
| Shinku | Dragon run | Run for longer distance |
| Nanally | Wall running | Extended wall run duration |
| Hathor | Bird dive | Extended dive distance |
| Mosa | Bat form | Extended bat form duration |
How It Works
Hotori’s time stop records a window of actions and then plays them back. During the playback phase, the game’s internal timer for exploration skill durations continues to tick, but because Hotori is controlling the sequence, you can maintain positioning and direction through the extended window.
The practical result: any exploration skill that has a fixed time limit gets more effective distance out of Hotori’s time stop activation.
Shinku + Hotori: Extended Dragon Run
This is the most discussed application of the technique. Shinku’s dragon run is her primary traversal skill, but its duration is fixed. By activating Hotori’s time stop at the start of the dragon run, you can cover significantly more ground before the skill expires.
How to execute:
- Activate Shinku’s dragon run
- Immediately switch to Hotori and activate her time stop
- The dragon run continues during the time stop window
- You exit the time stop with more distance covered than a normal dragon run
This is particularly useful for crossing large open areas in the Warren Continent or reaching elevated platforms that would normally require multiple jumps.
Nanally + Hotori: Extended Wall Run
Nanally’s wall running has a time limit before she drops off. Activating Hotori’s time stop during a wall run extends the effective duration, allowing you to reach higher points or cover more horizontal distance along a wall before dismounting.
Hathor + Hotori: Extended Bird Dive
Hathor’s bird dive is primarily a combat mobility tool, but it also functions as an exploration skill for covering vertical distance quickly. The time stop extension applies here as well, giving you more control over where the dive ends.
Why Hotori Has a Permanent Spot in Many Teams
This technique is one of the reasons Hotori is valued beyond her combat kit. Her time stop is not just a damage tool — it functions as a universal extension for any character’s timed ability, including exploration skills. Players who use Hotori as a permanent team member for open-world traversal report noticeably faster map coverage compared to teams without her.
The technique requires no special setup beyond having Hotori in your party and knowing when to activate the time stop. It works in all open-world areas and does not appear to be an unintended exploit — it is consistent with how Hotori’s kit is designed to interact with other characters’ abilities.
Tips
Practice the timing in a low-stakes area first. The window for activating the time stop at the right moment during another character’s exploration skill takes a few tries to get consistent.
Shinku + Hotori is the most impactful combination for players who use Shinku as their main character, since the dragon run is Shinku’s primary traversal tool and the extension meaningfully increases her open-world mobility.
The technique works regardless of team composition order. You do not need Hotori in a specific slot — just switch to her during the exploration skill window.
