Version 1.2 “999 Nights” introduces the Warren Continent, a permanent fantasy RPG world that exists entirely within a tabletop game anomaly. Unlike Hethereau’s urban streets, Warren Continent is a classic fantasy setting with distinct biomes, roguelite gear progression, and a final boss: the Crimson Dragon.

How to Unlock 999 Nights Mode

Before you can access the Warren Continent, you must meet two requirements:

1. Complete the main story chapter “Dreamwalk Corridor” — this is the Version 1.1 story episode set on Sunward Island.
2. Reach Hunter Rank 26.

Once both conditions are met after the Version 1.2 update on July 8, the 999 Nights mode will become available. Importantly, this mode is permanent — it will remain accessible in future versions even after the Version 1.2 event period ends.

Warren Continent: All Regions

The Warren Continent is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own climate, enemies, and secrets. The journey begins at the village and progresses toward the final confrontation at Dragon Keep.

999 Nights Gameplay Mechanics

Class System

The four playable characters each take on a fantasy class role within 999 Nights:

Each class has its own gear slots, stat growth, and playstyle. Choosing which character to focus on depends on your preferred combat approach.

Gear and Appraisal System

Equipment in 999 Nights works differently from the main game. Gear drops from monsters with randomized stats and affixes, and many high-rarity pieces have hidden bonuses that only reveal after appraisal at a campfire or merchant. Always appraise gear before discarding it — a seemingly average item may have a powerful hidden passive.

Gear equipped in 999 Nights can also be brought back to Hethereau by exchanging in-game currency at the Button Shop, making some cosmetic pieces available for use in the main game.

Campfires and Bonfires

Campfires are scattered throughout the continent and serve as rest points where you can:

• Appraise equipment
• Manage your gear loadout
• Restore resources before difficult encounters
• Use as fast-travel waypoints

Always stop at campfires before entering a new region or attempting a boss fight.

Fuzz Merchant and NPC Quests

The Fuzz Merchant appears in Fuzzy Village and various camps throughout the continent. This NPC allows you to trade materials, purchase useful items, and exchange Mystery Buttons. Additionally, Fluffy NPCs scattered across the map offer side quests with bonus rewards — some are well-hidden, so explore thoroughly.

Mystery Buttons: How to Farm and What to Buy

Mystery Buttons are the primary event currency for 999 Nights. They are earned by:

• Completing 999 Nights runs
• Defeating enemies and bosses
• Finishing NPC quests
• Participating in related Version 1.2 events

Button Shop Rewards

Mystery Buttons can be exchanged in the Button Shop for a range of rewards. Prioritize cosmetics and Riftcrystals, as other materials are obtainable through regular gameplay.

Version 1.2 introduces a new Outfit Recoloring system alongside the 999 Nights cosmetics. Selected outfits can be recolored using matching Dye Orb items, unlocking alternate color palettes. The available 999 Nights outfits are:

• Iroi: Dreamweaver (fantasy mage aesthetic)

How to Beat the Crimson Dragon (Final Boss)

The Crimson Dragon in Dragon Keep is the final challenge of each 999 Nights run. Before attempting it:

1. Ensure all four party members are leveled up by farming enemies in earlier regions — do not skip fights.
2. Appraise all gear and equip the strongest pieces for each character’s class.
3. Stock up on consumables from the Fuzz Merchant before entering Dragon Keep.
4. Use campfires immediately before the Dragon Keep entrance to restore resources.

The Dragon tests your overall party strength accumulated throughout the run. Rushing through earlier regions without farming EXP will make this fight significantly harder.
