Crime Surge
Spends accumulated Crime Charges to unleash a heavy follow-up attack dealing Lakshana DMG proportional to charges consumed. Maximum 100 charges. At max charges, gains additional CRIT Rate bonus.
Retribution

Overview
Chaos is an S-Rank Lakshana DPS character releasing in NTE Version 1.1 Phase 2 (June 24, 2026). A member of ETD-6 introduced in Chapter Four of the main story, Chaos wields both a scythe and gun while commanding a fog hound companion. His combat identity centers on building Crime Charges through sustained attacks, marking enemies with the Warrant debuff to amplify team damage, and spending charges on devastating follow-up strikes.
His open-world utility is exceptional: the fog hound doubles as a teleport anchor, allowing players to place custom waypoints anywhere in the world and instantly warp back. This makes him one of the most exploration-friendly characters in the game.
Key Mechanics
Crime Charge System
Chaos accumulates Crime Charges through normal attacks and fog hound hits. These charges serve as his primary damage resource:
| Charges | Effect |
|---|---|
| 0-49 | Standard Crime Surge damage |
| 50-99 | +15% Normal Attack speed, enhanced Crime Surge |
| 100 (Max) | +20% CRIT Rate on Crime Surge, maximum multiplier |
The optimal rotation involves building to 100 charges, applying Warrant, then spending all charges in a single Crime Surge for maximum burst.
Warrant Debuff
Warrant is Chaos’s signature debuff that amplifies all incoming damage on the marked target by 15%. This benefits the entire team, making Chaos valuable even as a sub-DPS. The debuff lasts 8 seconds by default but can be extended by spending Crime Charges.
Fog Hound Companion
The fog hound attacks independently during combat, generating Crime Charges with each hit. After Retribution, it enters Frenzy state with doubled attack speed for 10 seconds. In the open world, it functions as a placeable teleport anchor and collectible tracker.

| Youthful Fantasy (F2P) | ATK 30%, Break 60 | Accessible option with Lakshana DMG bonus from Black Tome |

Team Compositions
Premium Hexed Team
Chaos + Chenxing + Sakiri + Fadia
Chenxing provides Lakshana resonance and energy generation. Sakiri offers grouping and Break support. Fadia heals and provides the Hexed Cycle trigger (Lakshana + Psyche). This team maximizes Chaos’s damage ceiling through consistent Warrant uptime and Hexed reaction damage.
F2P Hexed Team
Chaos + Adler + Haniel + Flex
Adler provides Break support and Lakshana resonance at A-Rank accessibility. Haniel offers healing and Psyche element for Hexed triggers. The flex slot can be filled by any grouping or shielding character.
Hybrid Team
Chaos + Daffodill + Sakiri + Baicang
Daffodill’s ATK buffs amplify Chaos’s Crime Surge damage. Sakiri groups enemies for AoE efficiency. Baicang provides survivability. This team sacrifices Cycle reactions for raw damage output.
Awakening Priority
- Awakening 1 — Crime Charges generate 20% faster (significant DPS increase)
- Awakening 2 — Warrant amplification increases to 20% (team-wide benefit)
- Awakening 4 — Fog hound gains AoE attacks in Frenzy state
- Awakening 6 — Retribution resets Crime Surge cooldown (enables double burst)
Cartridge Set Recommendations
| Set | Bonus | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Diabolos (4pc) | +25% DMG to debuffed enemies | Best for Warrant synergy |
| Crimson Tide (4pc) | +40% CRIT DMG for 10s after Ultimate | Strong burst option |
| Diabolos (2pc) + Crimson Tide (2pc) | Mixed stats | Transitional set |
Main stats: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG / ATK% / Lakshana DMG Bonus
Should You Pull?
Chaos arrives in Phase 2 (June 24 – July 8). Consider pulling if:
- You need a strong Lakshana DPS (currently limited options in this element)
- You value open-world exploration utility (teleport anchor is unique)
- You want a team damage amplifier (Warrant benefits all party members)
Skip if you already invested in Lacrimosa during Phase 1 and lack resources for both. Chaos will likely receive a rerun in future patches.
FAQ
Is Chaos better than Lacrimosa? They serve different roles. Lacrimosa excels at sustained DoT and Discord reactions. Chaos provides burst damage and team-wide amplification through Warrant. In pure DPS checks, Lacrimosa edges ahead at equal investment, but Chaos offers more team utility.
Can Chaos and Lacrimosa be on the same team? Yes, but it is not optimal. They compete for field time and trigger different Cycles (Discord vs Hexed). Running them together sacrifices reaction synergy.
Is the Pursuit Special Arc necessary? No. Fluff of Fleetness performs within 15% of signature at R1. The signature’s main advantage is quality-of-life (faster charge generation) rather than raw damage.
