Team Building Principles for Iroi
Iroi is a universal healer who fits into most teams, but she has two specific strengths that make her exceptional in certain compositions:
- Regression mechanic — any ally who reaches 0 HP automatically enters Regression instead of being downed, making her invaluable in high-difficulty content where survival is a concern
- Blossom Cycle Enhancement — when the first Vita Bud disappears, a duplicate immediately grows in its place, nearly doubling Blossom reaction frequency
Teams that benefit most from Iroi are those with aggressive DPS characters who take damage frequently (Regression value) or teams built around Blossom reactions (passive value).
Best Team Compositions
Team 1: Shinku Hypercarry (Best Overall)
| Role | Character | Element | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Shinku | Cosmos | Surging Crimson burst carry |
| Healer | Iroi | Anima | Regression safety net; Blossom enhancement; Speedy Hedgehog ATK buff |
| Sub-DPS | Hathor | Lakshana | Remora (Lakshana + Cosmos) reaction; Charge cycling |
| Sub-DPS | Jiuyuan | Anima | Anima + Cosmos = Blossom; grouping |
This is the intended 1.2 meta team. Iroi’s Regression mechanic is critical for Shinku’s aggressive playstyle — Shinku will take damage during Surging Crimson, and Iroi ensures no run ends due to a mistimed dodge. Her Blossom Enhancement passive also increases Charge reaction frequency, feeding more Ultimate energy to Shinku via Shinku’s own Charge Enhancement passive.
Team 2: Blossom Reaction Team
| Role | Character | Element | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Esper Zero | Cosmos | Cosmos carry with fast Instant Cycle |
| Healer | Iroi | Anima | Blossom enhancement; healing |
| Sub-DPS | Hotori | Cosmos | Cosmos reactions; Instant Cycle maintenance |
| Flex | Any Cosmos/Anima | — | Additional Blossom coverage |
Iroi’s Blossom Cycle Enhancement passive is strongest in dedicated Blossom teams. The duplicate Vita Bud effect significantly increases Blossom trigger frequency, translating directly into higher team DPS. Esper Zero’s fast Instant Cycle pairs well with the increased Blossom rate.
Team 3: Universal Sustain (Any Carry)
Iroi can replace Hathor in most existing teams as a more defensive healer option. The trade-off:
- Iroi vs. Hathor: Iroi provides stronger healing and the Regression safety net; Hathor provides more offensive reaction coverage (Remora) and sub-DPS damage
- Choose Iroi when survival is a concern; choose Hathor when you need more damage
She pairs well with any main DPS who takes significant damage during their burst window: Lacrimosa, Nanally, Chaos, or any character with an aggressive frontline playstyle.
Team 4: F2P Accessible
| Role | Character | Element | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Mint | Cosmos | Standard banner Cosmos DPS |
| Healer | Iroi | Anima | Blossom enhancement; healing |
| Sub-DPS | Jiuyuan | Anima | Blossom + grouping |
| Flex | Hathor | Lakshana | Remora + Charge |
A solid team using standard banner characters. Iroi’s Blossom Enhancement passive works well with Mint (Cosmos) + Jiuyuan/Iroi (Anima) to maintain consistent Blossom reactions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Iroi better than Hathor as a healer? Iroi provides stronger raw healing and the unique Regression mechanic (prevents deaths). Hathor provides more offensive utility through Remora reactions and sub-DPS damage. For most content, Hathor is more damage-efficient; for high-difficulty content where survival matters, Iroi is safer.
Can Iroi deal damage? Yes — her Dream of the Ivory Gate Ultimate (high Imagination version) deals AoE Anima damage. However, her primary role is healing and support, and building her for damage is not recommended.
Does Iroi work without Shinku? Yes. Iroi is a universal healer who works in any team. Her Blossom Enhancement passive is most valuable in Blossom-focused teams, but her healing and Regression mechanic are useful regardless of team composition.
When should I use the healing vs. damage Ultimate? Use the healing Ultimate (low Imagination / Dream of the Horned Gate) when the team needs emergency sustain or when you need to revive an ally in Regression. Use the damage Ultimate (high Imagination / Dream of the Ivory Gate) when the team is healthy and you want to contribute damage.
